The composition
Sauvage Parfum keeps the family's bright lift but turns it warmer. Mandarin and bergamot open juicy and round, then sandalwood and cedar settle in, creamy with a faint smoky edge, before vanilla and tonka bean sweeten the base.
Of the Sauvage line it is the smoothest and most grown up, the one that trades a little sparkle for depth. It sits well into the evening and the colder months, and it is often the version people settle on once the original starts to feel too familiar.
What wearers say
- Wearers most often call it the smoothest and most mature Sauvage, with a creamy, lightly sweet sandalwood and vanilla drydown under a fresh citrus opening.
- The main complaint is familiarity: some find it still too close to the original Sauvage and other blue fragrances, and a few compare it with Bleu de Chanel.
- Most describe it as long lasting with moderate projection, softer than the Eau de Parfum, while a smaller group finds it sits close to the skin after a few hours.
- It is worn year round, by day and night, with many leaning toward fall, winter and evenings.
- Opinion divides by site: Fragrantica reviewers are largely positive, while Basenotes reviewers lean neutral.
Summarized by Cabinet Noir from public reviews on Fragrantica, Parfumo and Basenotes, checked 24 October 2026.
Compared with
- Sauvage Eau de ParfumDior
- Dior builds the Eau de Parfum on bergamot and vanilla, fresher and soapier; the Parfum swaps in mandarin, sandalwood and tonka for a richer, more ambery drydown.
- Sauvage ElixirDior
- One step stronger in concentration, Elixir turns to warm spices, lavender and a blend of woods, darker and denser than the creamy sandalwood of the Parfum.
- Sauvage ExtraitDior
- The newest and most concentrated of the line, built on lavender, oud and cedarwood, drier and woodier where the Parfum stays sweet and smooth.

Questions about Sauvage Parfum
Is Sauvage Parfum the same as Sauvage Elixir?
No. Dior places Sauvage Parfum one step below Elixir and one step above the Eau de Parfum in concentration, and the scents differ: mandarin, tonka and sandalwood in the Parfum, warm spices, lavender and woods in Elixir.
Who created Sauvage Parfum?
Dior's page credits no one, but Fragrantica and Parfumo name François Demachy, Dior's in-house perfumer when Sauvage Parfum was released.
Can a bottle of Sauvage Parfum be refilled?
Some can. Dior sells a Sauvage Parfum refill for its refillable bottles of Sauvage Parfum, though not every bottle in the range is made to be refilled.
Is Sauvage Parfum discontinued?
No. Dior still makes Sauvage Parfum; it was on sale new as of October 2026.
