The composition
Sauvage Extrait opens with the familiar Sauvage brightness, bergamot and Provence lavender, then turns darker and denser. Vietnamese oud brings a smoky, faintly leathery heart, while patchouli, vetiver and Virginia cedar settle it into a deep, polished woodiness.
It keeps the Sauvage signature but dresses it for night, rich and a little animalic. A natural pick for cool evenings, and for Sauvage fans curious about its woodier, richer side.
How it wears
Sauvage Extrait leans toward autumn, winter and evenings; Fragrantica's reviewer suggests it for cooler months and finds it less suited to the office. The bergamot and lavender opening is short, and the dense, smoky woods and leather then stay largely the same for the rest of the wear. Parfumo voters rate both its longevity and its sillage high.

Is Sauvage Extrait stronger than Sauvage Elixir?
Dior calls Sauvage Extrait the most concentrated fragrance in the Sauvage collection and its first extrait de parfum for men, so it sits above Sauvage Elixir in concentration. Dior also says the formula is matured for 42 days.
Does Sauvage Extrait contain oud?
Yes. Dior lists Vietnamese oud essence at the heart of Sauvage Extrait, with leather notes, and it is the only Sauvage built around oud. Fragrantica's reviewer found that the oud reads clean and leathery rather than dirty.
